Brenda Camilleri operates as an independent casting director for local, regional, and international productions filming across Malta and the Mediterranean. Please note that this department does not offer talent management or agency representation. Instead, we maintain a professional roster of actors to reference when casting individual projects on behalf of directors and production houses.

Submitting your profile and materials places you on our books, ensuring you are on our radar when a script requires your specific demographic, skill set, or background.

 

Profile Submission Criteria

Casting requirements vary drastically depending on the scale and style of the project. Submissions are open to all individuals, regardless of whether they have formal agency representation:

  • Location: We accept submissions from actors permanently based in the Maltese Islands, as well as international talent available for regional projects within the Mediterranean. To keep in mind that most productions shooting in Malta expect the talent to be fully residing and based in Malta full-time.

  • Experience Levels: Our roster includes established, trained professionals as well as emerging talent and absolute beginners who match specific character briefs.

  • Showreels & Portfolios: A professional showreel is highly beneficial for any opportunities as it’s the industry-standard way to showcase your experience, but it is not a requirement to be on our books.   • Headshots: These are photos of your face showing you naturally in good light. Headshots are expected to be a real, factual and current representation of how you look right now. No retouching, photos from the past or artistic photos are to be considered. Industry standards apply.

  • Contact Methods: Without a reliable way to contact you, there is no point submitting your profile. Our industry moves fast and clear, fast communication is expected.

  • Languages: Because we service highly international and multilingual productions, we consistently utilise actors fluent in English as well as individuals speaking other global languages or specific regional dialects. Maltese is obviously a necessity for local productions so proficiency in this is also worth highlighting.

  • Demographics: Materials are accepted from all age groups, genders, and backgrounds- encompassing children, teenagers and adults.

 

How the Casting Process Works

Once your profile and materials are received, they are filed securely within our books. The process is entirely project-driven and generally varies from one project to the next, however generally speaking:

  1. Profile Storage: Your headshots, CV, and details are kept on file for ongoing reference. You can keep updating us with recent material periodically as you update your headshots, show reels, etc..

  2. Script Breakdown: When a production enters pre-production, we review our books to build a shortlist of talent who exactly match the director's creative requirements.

  3. Audition Requests: If you fit a specific role, our team will contact you directly with the relevant project details and an invitation to audition, usually through a self-tape audition request.

 

There is no fee to submit your materials, and your profile remains active for consideration as new opportunities arise across various production budgets so we will keep getting in touch with you unless you inform us that you no longer wish to receive acting opportunities on international and local productions in the Maltese Islands.
